Primary Workshops for Schools

African Drumming Workshop

Dive into the vibrant world of West African drumming with our high energy African Drumming workshop. Perfect for celebrating Black History Month as well as throughout the academic year, this program includes an exciting assembly, hands-on drumming with authentic djembes, and a final performance to showcase the rhythms learned.

Our expert instructors will guide the children through traditional drumming techniques using call and response rhythms on the djembes; fostering creativity, teamwork, and a deep appreciation for African musical heritage. We can start the day with an exciting assembly and then work with up to 8 sessions of 30 children. The workshop can culminate in a thrilling performance, allowing students to demonstrate their newfound skills and share their learning.

Bring the exhilarating pulse of African Drumming to your school—book now for an unforgettable experience!

Our African drumming workshop is delivered all year round and links in perfectly with Black History Month, International Day, Cultural Week and Arts Week.

Workshop Performance

Workshop & Performance

Workshop Sessions:

Up to 8 sessions

During a typical day-long workshop, Primary Workshops for Schools will start the day off with an assembly during which our drummer will both demonstrate and motivate the children for the day ahead. We can work with up to 30 children in a session and deliver 6 sessions, stretching to 8 if required. The workshop can then end with a performance from the children. This allows the children to demonstrate their new skills and develop in confidence.
