Experience the vibrant rhythms and cultural richness of our Indian Drumming workshops designed to inspire and engage children through the ancient art of Indian drumming. At Primary Workshops for Schools, we immerse children in the history and techniques of this musical tradition, introducing them to the rhythms and beats of traditional Indian drums like the Dhol.
Designed to enhance your cultural events, our Indian Drumming workshops for schools will introduce various rhythms and beats in order to get your children engaged, and children will learn how to use traditional Indian drums such as the Dhol.
What's included?
We can kick-start the day with a thrilling assembly to engage and excite your children.
Throughout the day, we can conduct up to 8 sessions.
The experience culminates in a lively performance where the children can showcase their newly acquired drumming skills.
This final performance not only highlights their achievements but also offers a celebratory end to a day of learning and fun.
What makes our Indian Drumming Workshop unique?
Our Indian Drumming workshops for schools offer an exciting, hands-on introduction to rhythm and percussion. Children get the chance to play traditional drums, such as the Dhol, learning core drumming techniques and rhythmic patterns in an engaging and energetic environment.
Each workshop focuses on active participation, building confidence, and musical awareness through interactive sessions. With a final performance to showcase their progress, the children can experience a sense of achievement and enjoyment throughout the day.
How it works
During a typical day-long workshop, Primary Workshops for Schools will start the day off with an assembly during which our drummer will both demonstrate and motivate the children for the day ahead. We can work with up to 30 children in a session and deliver 6 sessions, stretching to 8 if required. The workshop can then end with a performance from the children. This enables them to demonstrate their new skills and develop confidence.
How our Indian Drumming Workshop can help
For Children
The workshop encourages children to experiment with sound and rhythm, helping them develop their creativity. Working together in small groups promotes collaboration and listening skills, while the structure of the session helps reinforce musical understanding, including timing, tempo, and co-ordination.
For Schools
Fully compatible with the National Curriculum, our Indian Drumming workshops support the development of core music skills, communication, and language, amongst others. It’s also a strong fit for Arts Week, Cultural Week, and International Day, as well as special events such as Diwali and Holi.
