How it works

During a typical day-long workshop, Primary Workshops for Schools can work with between 10-15 children in a session and deliver 6 sessions, stretching to 8 if required. In one full day, we can create a one-metre squared mosaic project.

What makes our Mosaic Workshop unique?

At Primary Workshops for Schools, our Mosaic Workshops give children the opportunity to produce a tangible, lasting piece of artwork using real tools and colourful materials. It’s more than just an art activity. It’s a full-scale creative project where they see their individual contributions come together as part of something bigger.

What makes our Mosaic Art Workshop truly special is its flexibility. Whether your school wants a permanent wall mosaic, class sets of individual tiles, or a piece to mark a school anniversary, we tailor the project to fit your vision.

Creating mosaic art isn’t just about placing tiles. It’s a process that builds a wide range of transferable skills. Through our Mosaic Workshops for schools, children can develop their fine motor control, spatial reasoning, and ability to follow instructions while expressing themselves creatively. They learn the value of planning, patience, and precision.

Working on a shared artistic goal through our Mosaic Workshops can also help build teamwork and collaboration. Children gain a sense of pride from seeing their contributions reflected in a collective masterpiece, something they’ll walk past every day and say, “I helped make that!”

Our Mosaic Workshop also offers a unique chance to bring art history into a practical setting. Mosaics date back thousands of years and appear in cultures around the world, including Ancient Rome, offering a great opportunity to link with broader curriculum topics.

How our Mosaic Workshop can help

For Children

Most children thrive in hands-on, creative environments. Our Mosaic Workshops enable them to:

  • Learn real artistic techniques
  • Improve hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness
  • Collaborate on a shared visual goal
  • Express creativity through colour, pattern, and form
  • Experience the satisfaction of completing a tangible work of art

Whether they’re carefully arranging tiles or stepping back to see the full picture, children can gain confidence, focus, and pride in their work. It’s the kind of experience that stays with them long after the day ends.

For Schools

Many schools often commission a wall mosaic as a centrepiece to mark an achievement, anniversary, or a themed project. The final product becomes a permanent visual reminder of what the children can accomplish together. More importantly, our Mosaic Workshops for schools are compatible with National Curriculum goals:
