Our Samba Drumming workshops immerse children in the vibrant rhythms of Latin American culture, starting with an energetic assembly to captivate their interest. Children will play various traditional instruments, learning to create the exhilarating sounds of samba.
We can then conclude the day with a dynamic performance showcasing their new skills to parents or the rest of the school.
Who is it for?
At Primary Workshops for Schools, we can work with up to 8 classes of 30 children each, allowing them to form their own samba band and experience the rhythms of Brazil’s famous carnival festivals.

What makes our Samba Drumming Workshop unique?
Samba Drumming isn’t just about making noise. It’s about making music together. Our workshop is designed to be fully interactive from the moment it starts. Children form their own samba groups and learn how to layer rhythms using a variety of percussion instruments. With clear structure and expert guidance, they go from complete beginners to confident performers all in one school day.
No prior experience is needed, and children of all abilities can take part. Our Samba Drumming workshops offer an inclusive, energising experience that brings music to life through action.
The value of Samba Drumming in schools
This workshop does more than entertain. It builds valuable skills. Children can sharpen their sense of timing, improve co–ordination, and learn to listen and respond in a group setting.
Working together to create a unified sound demands focus, communication, and discipline, but it’s wrapped in fun, which makes it all the more effective.
The structure of samba gives children a hands-on introduction to rhythm patterns, repetition, call and response, and ensemble playing.
Everything they learn supports National Curriculum outcomes in music and helps bring abstract concepts to life in a practical way. The physical and social aspects of drumming also align well with PSHE goals, offering cross-curricular value in a single workshop.
How it works
Group size
We can work with up to 30 children in a session and deliver 6 sessions, stretching to 8 if required.
Costumes
The workshop can then end with a performance from the children. This allows the children to demonstrate their new skills and develop confidence.
How our Samba Drumming Workshop can help
For Children
Our Samba Drumming workshops for schools provide children with a rare chance to experience music physically and collaboratively.
They’re up, active, and fully involved. Many find their confidence grows as they try something new, especially when they get to be part of a team working toward a shared performance.
It’s particularly powerful for children who respond well to hands-on learning or who struggle to engage with more traditional classroom formats.
For Schools
Samba Drumming fits seamlessly into your teaching day. Our workshop is structured to support the National Curriculum while delivering benefits in areas such as behaviour, wellbeing, and group dynamics. It is also perfect for your school’s Cultural Week, International Day, and Arts Week or as a special reward.
