Dance has always been and will always be a huge part of our lives and a massive form of communication and expression in every culture on the planet.
Dance has evolved throughout the time; from the 1920s with the Charleston through to the 2020s with various Tik Tok dances, people always had different styles of dance to express the way they were feeling.
This can be best explored during one of our Turn Back Time dance workshops as it not only demonstrates that change but it brings period of historical importance to life.
Who is it for?
Our Turn Back Time dance workshop is an excellent opportunity for children to connect to periods of historical importance. Due to the flexible nature of this workshop, each session can cover a different period and there are so many options to choose from such as
- 1920’s – Charleston, Jitterbug, Fox Trot, Tango, Waltz
- 1930’s – Swing, Jitterbug,
- 1940’s – Jive, Swing, Mambo, Samba, Lindy Hop
- 1950’s – Rock ‘n’ Roll, Lindy Hop, Cha Cha, Jazz
- 1960’s – Twist, Swing
- 1970’s – Disco
- 1980’s – Break Dance, Voguing, Hip Hop, Thriller
- 1990’s – Macarena, Line Dance, Street Dance, Hip-Hop
- 2000’s – Zumba, Street, Contemporary, Bollywood, Salsa, Reggaeton
- 2010’s – Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Dance Hall, Zumba
Workshop & Performance
Workshop Sessions
- Up to 8 sessions
During a typical day-long workshop, Primary Workshops for Schools can work with up to 30 children in a session and deliver 6 sessions, stretching to 8 if required. The workshop can then end with a performance from the children during which they can showcase the moves they’ve learnt throughout the day and develop in confidence.
