Samba Sleigh Drumming Workshops for Schools
Samba Sleigh Drumming
Our Samba Sleigh Drumming workshops are available throughout the festive season and are perfect for Christmas celebrations, enrichment days, and end-of-term rewards.
- Duration
- Up to 8 sessions
- Group Size
- 30 children per session
Our workshop combines the infectious energy of samba with Christmas rhythms, festive songs and the joyful sound of sleigh bells. Children will play a variety of traditional instruments used in ola samba, learn exciting seasonal rhythms and work together to create one spectacular festive sound.
The day can conclude with a lively performance, giving children the opportunity to showcase their newly learnt rhythms to the rest of the school or their parents.
Who is it for?
At Primary Workshops for Schools, we can work with up to 8 classes of 30 children, giving children from across your school the chance to form their own festive samba band and showcase their creativity and music skills.
Each session is adapted to suit the age and ability of the group, making Samba Sleigh Drumming suitable for children from EYFS to Key Stage 2. No previous musical experience is required, just plenty of enthusiasm and Christmas spirit!
Children will play traditional samba instruments, incorporate sleigh bells and learn how different rhythm patterns can be layered together to create an energetic Christmas performance that would delight the audience.
How it works
Group size
We can work in a group setting with up to 30 children in each session and deliver 6 sessions during the day, stretching to 8 sessions if required.
Festive Performance
The workshop can conclude with a performance from the children, allowing them to demonstrate their new musical skills, celebrate what they have achieved and share some Christmas cheer with the rest of the school or their parents.
What makes our Samba Sleigh Drumming Workshop unique?
Samba Claus is coming to town!
Samba Sleigh Drumming takes everything children love about our popular Samba Drumming workshop and gives it a fantastic Christmas twist. From the moment the workshop begins, every child is actively involved in creating music together.
Children will explore samba rhythms using a range of percussion instruments before adding sleigh bells, Christmas-inspired rhythms and familiar festive musical elements. With clear structure and expert guidance, they will progress from complete beginners to a confident festive samba band in just one school day.
It is an inclusive, energetic and wonderfully memorable experience that fills your school with big beats, jingling bells and Christmas cheer.

- Musical performance
Everything children learn supports National Curriculum outcomes in music education while helping to develop confidence, teamwork and creative expression. It is a purposeful enrichment experience as well as an unforgettable way to celebrate Christmas in school.
How our Samba Sleigh Drumming Workshop can help
For Children
Our Samba Sleigh Drumming workshops for schools give children the opportunity to experience music physically, creatively and collaboratively.
They are active, engaged and involved from the very beginning. Children can grow in confidence as they master a new rhythm, contribute to the group and hear how their individual part becomes part of something much bigger.
The hands-on format can be especially powerful for children who respond well to practical learning or find it harder to engage with traditional classroom activities. Every child has an important role to play in creating the final festive sound.
Creativity
Ignite their creativity by composing and experimenting with rhythms.
Collaboration
Strengthen their collaboration skills by working together to create harmonious beats.
Coordination
Enhance coordination, rhythm, and confidence through music and performance.
For Schools
Samba Sleigh Drumming fits seamlessly into the school day while providing an exciting and purposeful way to celebrate Christmas.
The workshop supports National Curriculum music outcomes and delivers wider benefits in areas including understanding teamwork, wellbeing, listening, confidence and group dynamics. It is ideal for a Christmas enrichment day, end-of-term celebration, World Music Day, festive reward or alternative Christmas activity that can involve children from across the whole school.
